From FoodieLand and live music right here in Henry County to Dolly Parton tributes, fireworks, art festivals, and one of Atlanta's wildest parades, here's how to make the most of the unofficial last weekend of summer. Monday's slower — the kind of day for cruising and taking it easy — before we head full steam ahead into fall.
Event of the Week
Hampton
The nation's largest food festival lands right here in Henry County — 250+ vendors, global flavors, artisan shops, and live music at EchoPark Speedway. Hours run Friday 3–10PM, Saturday and Sunday 1–10PM. Tickets are online-only, no sales at the door, and this one tends to sell out, so don't wait until the weekend to grab them.

Monday, September 7 — Labor Day
Monday's usually the slowest day of the weekend — and honestly, that's exactly what we need heading full speed into fall.
💧 One Last Splash
Labor Day is the last day of the season for the Henry County Aquatic Center & Waterpark (1177 Henry Parkway Connector, McDonough). Regular Monday hours for the outdoor waterpark are 10AM–3PM, reserved for camps and seniors — worth confirming whether Labor Day gets extended public hours, since that changes whether this is actually open to everyone. Price and a working link still needed.

A family-friendly evening featuring cars, trucks, imports, and other enthusiast vehicles — the one confirmed Henry County event running on Labor Day itself.
A Little Further Out
Worth the Trip — One Last Summer Weekend
Atlanta
No Dragon Con badge needed to watch — just the spectacle of elaborate costumes, superheroes, and sci-fi characters marching through downtown. This year marks Dragon Con's 40th anniversary. MARTA confirms the 10AM start.
Marietta
A relaxed, daytime arts festival on the Square, running all three days of the holiday weekend — including Labor Day itself.
Stone Mountain
The classic Lasershow followed by an extended fireworks finale all three nights, including Labor Day itself — about as close to a "summer finale" as this weekend gets. Attraction tickets get you family-friendly rides and entertainment for the day; a daily or annual parking pass is required on top of that.
Two full days of music and culture at Fourth Ward Park — free and culturally distinctive.
Macon
Drag performances, Dolly karaoke, and a lookalike contest — costumes encouraged. It's a farther drive than the rest of this section, but the only Dolly Parton tribute we found this weekend, and worth the trip if that's your thing.
10 Mile Nature Trek

The adventurous option if you're looking for a real "one last summer adventure" — a full 10-mile trek through the preserve. No event link found yet.

A gentler, more accessible option than the 10-mile trek — a naturalist leads the group through the preserve, sharing Arabia Mountain's ecology and human history along the way. No event link found yet.
Traditional dance regalia, drumming, and native craft vendors at Indian Springs Museum — just a short drive from Henry County, and running both days of the holiday weekend.
